Ayurveda

Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word formed from the roots ayur, meaning life, and veda, meaning knowledge. While most well-known for its herbal medicines and remedies, this knowledge of life is a holistic medicine and health system that originated in India more than 5000 years ago. It was taught orally for thousands of years before being written down as Sanskrit mantras in the Vedas texts.

Ayurvedic doctors in India and around the world undergo institutionalized training and certification, and Ayurveda is gaining traction around the world as people seek to improve their health, eat organic, and boost their immunity.

On a personal level, Ayurveda focuses on creating a balance between the body, mind and consciousness through a healthy diet, positive lifestyle, and right thinking. While core Ayurvedic principles can help everyone live and eat healthier, most Ayurvedic treatments are personalized for the individual depending on various factors in conditions, including mood, weather, and even time of year! This is partly why Ayurveda is so effective – no two treatments are exactly the same.

On a larger level, Ayurveda is both a science and an art that helps guide you in the journey of life. It also teaches us to build harmony with our surroundings, and highlights the wellbeing of humankind, flora, fauna, animals, and even inanimate objects. This holistic approach reiterates the core Vedic principle that everyone and everything in the Universe is related and deeply connected.
